It's the end of the year and we're looking back at what we and our partners around the state accomplished for Oregon trails and everyone in our communities who enjoy them! We're also looking forward to a big year for trails advocacy in 2025!
2024 highlights:
Hosting our first-ever Trails Day at the Oregon Capitol; bringing more than 70 trail advocates to meet directly with legislative offices
Passing emergency, temporary recreational immunity legislation during the 2024 short session to keep Oregon's trails open
Securing an historic $1.33 Million in federal funding for Oregon Signature Trails in the Umatilla, Willamette, and Columbia Gorge
Launching the Move Oregon Forward campaign for a Safe, Clean, Fair, and Accountable transportation system in Oregon that includes increasing funding for Oregon Community Paths
Reviving the Policy Makers Ride with a September Voyage of the Visionaries in greater Beaverton
Supporting $620,00 in Signature Trails and Trails Stewardship Capacity projects across the state
Supporting more than 35 trails skills trainings around the state with more than 700 total participants.
Hosting over 300 partners at the 2024 Oregon Outdoor Recreation Summit in December in Sunriver
Looking ahead to 2025, our top policy priorities are to work to:
Secure permanent recreational immunity protections in the State of Oregon.
Increase funding to $50 million/year for the Oregon Community Paths program as part of a safe, clean, and just statewide transportation measure
Secure federal trails funding and federal agency recreation staffing
